BRUNSWICK MUSIC FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 30 YEARS

Brunswick is this year celebrating 30 years of hosting the Brunswick Music Festival – this being Australia’s longest running inner-city music festival. The two week festival continues to showcase some of the best musical talent, both local and international, to its stages in Brunswick.

Offering a full program of performers, musicians, shows and sounds, this year’s festival has a Festival Hub, located at the Brunswick Mechanics Institute and 14 days of programed events.

The festival opened with the Sydney Road Street Party, which saw six different stages offer music from every genre imaginable and continues with a concert on International Women’s Day (8 March), Blak Kabaret Klub (8 - 11 March) presented by Blak Dot Gallery, and an array of world music musicians from around the world.

This year’s Festival will have a one-off show called, ‘Songs of 3056’ which has some of Melbourne’s best singers, musicians and songwriters perform to celebrate the sounds of Brunswick. With a mixture of songs written by local artists, it will have a repertoire that was performed at the Brunswick Music Festival over the past 30 years.

Another key event is the High Tide Pool Party at the Brunswick Baths, offering DJs and special performances by synchronised swimmers, The Eastern Sirens. In addition, the Festival will have its closing celebration, Music for the People on the 18th of March.

The Festival also supports local musicians by offering a number of industry events, including networking events, a songwriter’s masterclass, sessions on songwriting and two events dedicated to the Brunswick Songwriter’s Club.

Offering a long and varied line-up of performers, this is one music festival not to be missed!
