Full of the sights and sounds of Latin America, Cine Latino Film Festival, is returning again to Melbourne, highlighting the stories and cultures of people from around the Latino world.
Delivering a range of new films to Australian audiences, the Festival is opening with Alfonso Cuarón’s Venice Film Festival winner, ROMA. This year’s festival has 26 feature films and casts a spotlight on films from Argentina and Cuba, presenting a Cuban Retrospective and giving access to some classic films on the big screen.
Cine Latino is also proud to host Festival Ambassador and local Comedian, Ivan Aristeguieta. A rising talent, Ivan turned his hand to comedy after a successful career as a Brew Master and Food Technologist in his native Venezuela. Living in Australia since 2012, he has toured with his smash hit show, Juithy and sitcom Lost in Pronunciation aired on ABC TV. Ivan will be opening the Melbourne Opening Night event with his unique ‘Australian-Latino’ sense of humour.
This year’s festival shines a light on films from Argentina, Cuba, along with three documentaries and 18 Australian premieres. One of the most acclaimed and eagerly awaited films is ROMA, by highly-regarded Director and Writer, Alfonso Cuarón.
Hosted by Palace Cinemas, the festival is Australia’s largest festival of Latin American cinema and has a full program with a selection from across Central and South America.
