Melbournians can experience free opera, broadway and symphony performances from Australia’s most accomplished artists like Archie Roach, Ronda Burchmore and The Jack Earle Big Band at the City of Stonnington’s The Classics free outdoor concert series on Saturday February 1st, 15th and 22nd from 7.30pm.
Beginning with an abridged performance of opera Puccini’s Tosca from award-winning director Cameron Menzies, the cast of world-class singers will hit all the high notes at Prahran’s Victoria Gardens on Saturday 1st, February from 7.30pm. With a host and program guide so everyone in the audience can follow along, this is a rare chance to see a classic Italian opera for zero ticket price.
The Second concert will feature The Classics from Broadway, and will see entertainer Ronda Burchmore joined by 16-piece ensemble Jack Earle Big Band performing “S’Wonderful”, a homage to The Great American Songbook at Malvern East’s Ardrie Park on Saturday 15th February from 7.30pm.

The third concert will feature iconic Indigenous Australian singer songwriter Archie Roach who will round out the concert series alongside Stonnington Symphony Orchestra with The Classics: Symphony on Saturday 22nd February at 7.30pm in Malvern Gardens. Now in its 36th year, the Stonnington Symphony Orchestra is made up from local musicians from 18 to 83 years of age, and will be playing an orchestral reimagining of Roach’s most celebrated songs alongside the music legend.
