'COLDER' REVIEW

Tucked away behind the church on Chapel Street is the home of Red Stitch Theatre. Hidden away, this venue is an ideal location for audiences to experience the emotions of Lachlan Philpott's powerful play, Colder.

The intimate nature of the tiny theatre with the taut dialogue between the characters creates an almost unbearable tension as the audience strives to find answers about the mysterious “man and boy” and the fishing rod dangling from the roof.

This edgy performance is directed by Alyson Cambell and performed by Red Stitch ensemble members Justin Hosking and Caroline Lee and alongside guest actors Marissa Bennett, Brigid Gallacher, Ben Pfeiffer and Charles Purcell.

The play kicks off with David as a young boy going missing during a visit to Disneyland. But what happens when as adult it happens again, and a friend, mother and lover lose the one they love? Vanished without a trace and faced with the disinterest of the authorities who only list “David” as a missing person – these three main characters try to come to grips with where he has gone and more importantly - why?
