MICHAEL WOODS PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPERIENCE 'DREAM' BLURS THE EDGES OF REALITY

'Desert Woman' by Michael Woods

From the personalities like Dark MOFO, Disney characters to Carnival Clowns and Desert Dominatrix, these are all some of the depictions of the lush, lit, and large scale snapshots from the mind of Melbourne-based photographer Michael Woods, who is inviting people to take part in an immersive experience from 30th of August to the 4th of September at the Meat Market Stables in North Melbourne.

The audience is welcome to wander the warehouse (if you dare) in your pajamas (if you wish) and step into a conceptual dreamy diorama exploring ambition, fear, sexuality, religion, and more. Entry is free!

A celebrated artist, 23 year-old Michael Woods has worked across a vast range of industries, from culinary publications such as Delicious to shooting music icons for arts magazines. Gaining experience in a number of spaces across the photographic industry in Australia, he is motivated by his passion and feeling, with his artistic work having a distinct attention to humanity, mixed with the elegance of contemporary photography & hyper-realism. The springboard for his career was a stunning panoramic shot encapsulating the moment Australia acknowledged its LGBTQI community as equal citizens under the Marriage Act. The photo titled It’s a YES gained so much traction online that Broadsheet sold 84 prints of the image, raising 15k for the National LGBTI Health Alliance – MindOUT!
