The Moss Deck Charity Art Show gives art with a purpose

Moss Foundation returns with its fifth annual Moss Deck Charity Art Show!! Courtesy MossFoundation

Now in its fifth year running, the Moss Foundation and Magnet Galleries have been hosting the fifth annual Moss Deck Charity Art Show exhibition and charity Auction live (and online) from 27 December, and will be having their Grand Finale tomorrow, 4 December!

Bringing together the work of local and international artists, these one-of-a-kind skateboard decks come from all areas of the artistic community - including tattoo artists, street and stencil artists, established painters, sculptors, photographers, indigenous leaders and even professional skateboarders!

The Moss Deck Charity Art Show raises money for delivering permanent clean water supplies for about 2,000 people in Swaziland, Africa. The foundation is a 100% volunteer charity based by skateboarders, musicians, artists and surfers, and have been building these water infrastructure projects since 2006. Full proceeds of each original artwork go toward funding the life-changing clean water scheme.

Moss Foundation explained (2018)

Ever since the first auction's success, this unique show has seen hundreds of original boards sold to happy art lovers at their legendary auction night, with every year, the show selling out.

The way that the show works is unique too. MOSS provides blank skateboard decks to artists from around the world, to donate their art. It's a simple and democratic format, with each artist being provided the same 'blank' canvas.

The exhibition culminates in the exciting Grand Final Silent Auction tomorrow on the 4th of December 2020.
