Melbournians are plagued with things to do in January but few are as cool as Mt Hotham’s three-day music shindig, Cool Summer Festival on 19 - 21 January.
Promoted as Australia’s highest festivals, (due to it being in the highlands),Cool Summer provides three days of music and indulgence, all within a beautiful natural settingnear the top of Mt Hotham with breathtaking views over the Victorian Alps.
The festival offers more than 21 performers on two stages over three days, along with free camping. During the three days, the festival hosts a range of bands on two stages and wealth of physical activities to keep all entertained.
Cool Summer Festival’s musical line-up has already been announced with recent addition, The Resignators added to the bandlist. Other bands include: The Mercy Kills, Young Offenders, Murder Balls, Seven Ups, Stiff Richards and Bittermen. See the Facebook page here for details.
Festival organisers have worked to make the festival as ‘family-friendly’ as possible, organising a range of supervised kids activities like scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, musical instrument making and face-painting. The festival will also have Connected Circus crew bringing circus skill workshops and their giant games tent to the festival. Organisers of Cool Summer have tried to keep costs low and entry is free for kids under 16, with free camping for all.
One proud local supporter of the event is Blizzard Brewing Company which will have its own beer tent at the festival. Cool Festival expects to have a range of food truck options on offer.
