OPEN HOUSE MELBOURNE SHOWS THE CITY IN A NEW LIGHT

This weekend will be Melbourne's eleventh year of Open House Melbourne where 224 sites with 87 buildings will open up to the public.
On during from the 28 and 29 July, in Melbourne city alone, 84 buildings will be open for viewing by the public.
Melbourne Lord Mayor, Sally Capp, says the public is lucky enough to glimpse inside and hear the stories that bring these buildings to life. "Melbourne is a city full of historic architecture and modern design just waiting to be explored and we're encouraging people to explore Open House Melbourne in July."
Featuring such iconic buildings like the State Library of Victoria, to recent architectural gems like the Buxton Contemporary in Melbourne's art precinct, there's something sure to surprise everyone, the Lord Mayor said.
Highlights from this weekend's Open House Melbourne include:
Melbourne Metro Tunnel Walking Tours - running all weekend
The Australian Ugliness and New Technology at the Melbourne School of Design, the University of Melbourne - Sat and Sun from 10-4pm
NExT Lab: New Experimental Technology Lab - specialising in 3D printing technologies
Buxton Contemporary gallery: gallery space - Sat and Sun from 10-4pm
Black Design Matters at the Koorie Heritage Centre - Sat and Sun from 10-5pm
RMIT New Academic Street - in the heart of RMIT's City campus the space is full of modern architecture and design features - Sat 10am - 4pm
