Kane Alexander

What better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than enjoying some musical “treats” from Kane Alexander selected from the Great American Songbook and savouring some food “treats” supplied by Time Out?

Vocalist Kane Alexander started his journey into the world of musical performance at a young age discovering a box of old records belonging to his grandparents in a farm shed. The collection included such greats as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and local icon Slim Dusty. His passion was also inspired by a recording from Mario Lanza that led him to formal training at the Victoria College of the Arts

In the performance of Swinging Sundays, multi-talented Kane Alexander brings to the stage an eclectic collection of melodies from such greats as George Gershwin, Rogers and Hart, even Charlie Chaplain’s ever-popular Smile, and included classics made famous by Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. This program showcased Kane’s unique vocal talents highlighting his ability to transcend a range of vocal styles and genres. His vibrant personality transformed our favourite songs into a cavalcade of vignettes of the singing stars that we all know and love. His impromptu rendition of Autumn Leaves added a personal touch to the show.

Set in the exotic surrounds of the Pavilion at the Arts Centre Melbourne, with its spectacular domed ceiling, the finishing touch to this marvellous event was a fine repast starting with a glass of Azahara bubbles, followed by sweet and savoury servings, with freshly brewed tea and coffee.
