THE OTHER ART FAIR GIVES NEW PLATFORM FOR EMERGING ARTISTS

The Other Art Fair Melbourne has returned to Melbourne, showcasing 100 emerging artists selected by an esteemed panel of art experts. Held at The Facility in Kensington, the Fair is returning as part of Melbourne Art Week and this is the second time the Fair has been held in Melbourne.

Presented by Saatchi Art, the Other Art Fair is one of the world's leading artist-led fairs and gives visitors the unique opportunity to discover and buy contemporary art direct from emerging artists.

“The Other Art Fair is designed to provide emerging and unrepresented artists with an accessible platform to showcase and sell work direct to the public. It provides the opportunity for immediate sales, enabling artists to fund and further develop their practice, all while forming direct and meaningful relationships with new buyers," says The Other Art Fair Australia Director, Zoe Paulsen.

“I feel The Other Art Fair fills a gap in the market; we’re giving people who are genuinely interested, but struggle to know where to buy art, the opportunity to view and purchase a variety of quality works, beyond the online world. The interaction between artist and the public is mutually beneficial and is what sets the fair apart.

Ambiguous Beauty #13 by Dina Broadhurst

The Other Art Fair will feature guest artist Dina Broadhurst. Working in mixed media works Dina is drawn to the colliding worlds of fashion, advertising, art and design.

Some highlights for the Fair include:

  • Ripple Root - The artist moniker of Singapore’s Liquan Liew and Estella Ng, Ripple Root make collaborative, carefree works reflecting themes of nature and wildlife. The two develop artworks physically next to each other, taking turns to add to a piece like a game of tag. This is the first time Ripple Root will exhibit in Australia.

  • Joel Tonks - After a sell-out exhibition at the fair in Sydney earlier this year, Joel’s new works are highly anticipated. His recent paintings investigate the inextricable connection between Australian identity and its flora, fauna and landscape.

  • Jess Merlo - A recent graduate of Monash University, Jess is a multi-disciplinary artist with an interest in exploring the relationship between two and three dimensions.

The Other Art Fair also has a range of public programs, with visitors able to interact with site specific art projects and unique performance art pieces. These include Ryoko’s Just Keep Going, Skunk Control’s Fractured Altar and Georgia Banks’ Hello Boys.
