Delivering a show filled with drag, burlesque, dance, circus and live music, the new show WINTERSWEET by YUMMY opens 11 – 15 July at The Toff in Town in Melbourne.

Known for its cult following and wild aesthetics, YUMMY has become legendary in the underground club cabaret scene and is now presenting a feature-length show combining the absurb and outrageous drag conventions with contemporary choreography.

Celebrating a vibrant, queer and subversive experience to the audience, the show gives a unique sense of gender balance and fluidity that reflects the changing cultural attitude towards gender identity and is recognised for its incorporation of women who do female drag.

The show boasts such talents like director James Welsby, known for his work in Taylor Mac and Glory Box and performers: Valerie Hex, Hannie Helsden, Jandruze, Benjamin Hancock, Zelia Rose and special guest singer/songwriter Joni in the Moon. Each of these performers are worth a mention for their own unique contribution to WINTERSWEET.

Key performer and artistic gymnast Hannie Helsden, has toured extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand and is a long time cast member of Circus Quirkus, where she performs in acrobatics, aerial hoops and hula hoops.

James Andrews is an Australian dancer and dance maker working in the realms of experimental contemporary dance as well as the underground queer club landscape. Benjamin Hancock is a prolific solo performer, who has worked as a contemporary dancer and performance artist and presented solo work with Chunky Move's Next Move, Lucy Guerin Inc. Pieces for Small Spaces, among others.

Zelia Rose has a list of credits as long as her extraordinary legs. Channelling the 1930's Golden Era of Burlesque, she is a singer, dancer, comic, aerialist, vaudevillian and showgirl extraordinaire. Rose’s captivating talents have led her to win the Miss Burlesque Australia and winning Best Debut in the International Burlesque Hall of Fame.

Joni In The Moon is the folktronic solo music project of Perth-based singer Joni Hogan. Joni In The Moon weaves together world-sample electronica, bazantar-bellied strings and melodic heart-on-sleeve folk pop lyric. Her recent single War and Porn received the West Australian Music (WAM) award for pop song of the year, and female vocalist of the year.

YUMMY Productions is a new force in the Australian performing arts scene that delivers fun and subversive live performance. Known for the cult smash show YUMMY, it has also created several spin-off productions (YUMMY in the Wild West, and YUMMY UP LATE). YUMMY recently won "Best Production" and "Best Ensemble" (cabaret) at the 2018 Green Room Awards.
