World Refugee Day is today and while for many it may seem a distant topic, the plight of refugees from around the world has come into focus in recent years.
Incorporating more than 500 events across Australia, National Refugee Week, on from 17-23 June 2018, the Day aims to highlight the challenges and difficulties many refugees experience throughout the world and advance for a more tolerant and progressive refugee policy in Australia.
In Melbourne, the Refugee Film Festival will be held as part of the week, and with many of the films screenings Sold Out, this event has proven a popular and powerful way to distribute the message of refugees.

Organised by the Refugee Council of Australia, organisers are encouraging groups to celebrate a week on the theme of '#withrefugees'. Working to raise awareness, promote harmony and advance the week as a national celebration, a range of events are planned for the week, including music, dance, football tournaments, public talks, exhibitions, theatre projects, among many others - see how you too can get involved!
